Cumulative Gratuity Over Time
Your gratuity is AED 52,500 — calculated at 21 working days per year (daily rate: AED 500). Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 — full gratuity applies regardless of reason for leaving.
Worked Examples
5 years at AED 15,000/month
Daily rate = AED 15,000 ÷ 30 = AED 500. Gratuity = 500 × 21 days × 5 years = AED 52,500. This is the most common scenario for mid-career professionals in the UAE.
7 years at AED 25,000/month
Daily rate = AED 833.33. First 5 years: 833.33 × 21 × 5 = AED 87,500. Next 2 years: 833.33 × 30 × 2 = AED 50,000. Total = AED 137,500.
10 years at AED 20,000/month — checking the cap
Without cap: First 5yr = AED 70,000 + Next 5yr = AED 100,000 = AED 170,000. Cap = 20,000 × 24 = AED 480,000. Cap not triggered — full AED 170,000 is payable.
